CAIRO, June 24, 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued decree no. 266 of 2018 extending the state of emergency throughout the country for three months starting from 1pm Saturday 14, 2018.
The decree was published in the official gazette.

CAIRO, June 24, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives, during its Sunday's plenary session under Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, approved presidential decrees no. 178 and 179 on obtaining two loans for a project meant to maintain sustainable development of Abu-Rawash wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) project.
The parliament debated a report - prepared by parliament's housing, public facilities and reconstruction committee as well as the offices of economic and African affairs committees - about presidential decree no. 178 of 2018 regarding the approval of a loan bankrolled by the African Development Bank (AFDB) and dedicated to the project of Abu Rawash WWTP sustainable development.
The loan agreement was signed on February 6 in 2018.
The parliament also debated presidential decree no. 179 of 2018 on giving the green light for a loan agreement between Egypt and the AFDB, which was signed in last February, to fund the project of Abu Rawash WWTP sustainable development.
CAIRO, June 24, 2018 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed the government to observe the most up-to-date world standards in upgrading all aspects of the education system so as to lay a strong foundation for the future of education in Egypt.
The president’s directives to this effect came at a meeting he called Sunday with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouli, Education Minister Dr Tarek Shawki, Communications and Information Technology Minister Dr Amr Talaat and the Assistant Armed Forces Chief of Staff for Systems, Major-General Aasem Abdel-Mohsen, the Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said in a statement Sunday.
Observance of the latest world standards in upgrading the education system should cover all aspects, including the educational installations, curricula and the electronic infrastructure, President Sisi said during the meeting. Invoking such standards would save us the need for introducing any amendments or alteration in the foreseeable future, in effect ensuring the stability of the education system with all its aspects including e-education, the president added.
President Sisi also placed emphasis on paying due attention in the process of upgrading the education to the value system with a view to promoting the principles of discipline and commitment, Spokesman Radi said.
The meeting was called by President Sisi to review the national strategy for upgrading pre-university education, Spokesman Radi said, adding that this strategy is based upon developing the aspired skills for students in all stages and enriching the elements for building the Egyptian personality.
During the meeting, Education Minister Shawki presented a report on the basic steps taken so far to implement this strategy with the use of information technology in the areas of e-education, development of the digital content and the training of teachers.
Implementation of the new strategy, Minister Shawki said in his presentation, is due to begin during the schooling year 2018/2019.
CAIRO, June 24, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli welcomed on Sunday Iraq's Vice President Ayad Allawi at Cairo International airport.
Allawi is visiting Egypt to discuss means of fostering bilateral relations in various fields.
In a press release, the cabinet said Allawi’s visit also aims at exchanging views and consultations concerning regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Madbouli is planned to meet Allawi on Monday for official talks to be attended by a number of Egyptian and Iraqi officials.
CAIRO, June 24, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt's Finance Ministry is seeking to diversify the sources of the state budget revenues to address possible economic dangers, Minster Mohamed Maait said on Sunday.
The state has about 25% in non-tax revenues that come from the revenues of the Suez Canal and development fees and profits of public and private companies, he said.
Maait's remarks were made at a House of Representatives plenary session led by speaker Ali Abdel Aal to debate a government-proposed draft law on additional funding of EGP 70.3 billion to the state budget for the fiscal year 2017-2018.
