CAIRO, July 16 ,2018(MENA) - Defense Minister General Mohamed Zaki said the Egyptian army has the highest levels of competence and combat capabilities to maintain the state's sovereignty and protect its borders in the light of serious internal and external threats and challenges.
During General Zaki's meeting with a number of army personnel on Monday, General Zaki convoyed greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to them and the Egyptian people on the 66th anniversary of the July 23 revolution.
The commander-in-chief hailed the army's diligence and its war-fighting readiness, stressing the importance of following non-traditional methods during their training in order to carry out extraordinary missions.
He talked with the soldiers on the latest regional developments and challenges faced by the Egyptian national security as well as the national mega projects.
CAIRO, July 16 , 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Monday the importance of continuing efforts to develop companies and factories affiliated to the Ministry of Military Production.
Sisi made these remarks during his meeting with Minister of State for Military Production Dr Mohamed El Assar.
He underlined the ministry's role in developing the national economy and industry, as well as meeting the needs of the local market, exporting surplus production and developing military products to cover the needs of the Armed Forces.
The president also stressed the need to boost co-operation between the ministry and major global companies in order to acquire modern technology and open up new horizons in the industry based on the ability to innovate and develop by local capabilities, in addition to establishing development projects to boost the Egyptian economy.
In press statements, Spokesman for the presidency Bassam Rady said the meeting reviewed the comprehensive strategic vision of the ministry in the coming period and the plan to develop factories and companies affiliated to it.
Rady pointed out that Minister Assar briefed President Sisi on the ministry's efforts to co-operate with various ministries and state institutions in different sectors, stressing that the ministry aims to optimise national resources and help state institutions achieve development goals and provide the best services to citizens.
The minister also presented a report on the prospects of co-operation between the ministry and a number of countries, such as Iraq, Russia, Germany and China, in a way that contributes to exchanging expertise between the employees of military production companies and global companies, as well as marketing products of companies affiliated to the ministry in global market, which contributes to increasing the foreign exchange earnings and exports.
CAIRO, July 16 , 2018 (MENA) - The Ministry of Antiquities received at Damietta port 116 archaeological pieces which had been seized during attempts to smuggle them abroad.
The pieces were seized in 2014 and the prosecution has finally decided to hand over the pieces to the Ministry of Antiquities, a top official said.
The pieces comprise wooden furniture and wooden and porcelain crafts dating back to the era of Muhamed Ali as well as utensils made of pottery dating back to the Islamic era.
CAIRO, July 16 ,2018 (MENA) - Civil Aviation Minister Younis el-Masry made an inspection tour of Luxor International Airport which is considered one of the most important airports in the country as Arab and foreign airlines operate flights to transfer tourists through it.
The visit comes within the framework of the field inspection tours made by the minister to follow up workflow in the Egyptian airports.
The Head of the Luxor International Airport Hisham Eissa posted the minister about the capabilities of the airport in addition to the current and future development plans of the facility, a statement released by the ministry said.
Masry ordered improving all the services offered to tourists, noting that his ministry provides all support to promote the tourism sector in Luxor via offering incentives in order to encourage the international aviation firms to increase flights to and from Luxor International Airport.
CAIRO, July 16 , 2018 (MENA) - The House of Representatives in its public sitting held Monday finally approved a draft law floated by the government to establish and regulate branches of foreign universities and educational institutions in Egypt.
The bill aims at developing the higher education and scientific research system in Egypt to be equal to the systems applied in advanced countries along with keeping the national identity of Egyptian students.
The bill stipulates that the main branch of the university will afford the costs of establishing and equipping its branch in Egypt.
The law stipulates that the minister concerned will form a committee to examine and study requests to establish foreign universities branches and educational institutions in Egypt.
The bill also provided that the president will issue a decree to establish foreign universities and educational institutions after the approval by the committee, the minister, the entities concerned and the cabinet.
CAIRO, July 16 , 2018 (MENA) - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) celebrated Monday the inauguration of career development centres at Menya and Beni Suef Universities.
These centres, established in co-operation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the American University in Cairo (AUC), will help qualify students to labour market, Sherry Carlin, Director of the USAID Mission in Egypt.
The centres will also help students determine their career paths as per labour market trends through achieving the best coordination between universities and the industrial sector in Upper Egypt, Carlin added.
The USAID works in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the AUC to set up more career development centres, which contributed to providing thousands of job opportunities to Egyptian graduates, the US Embassy said in a press release on Monday.
The 20 million dollar project will also witness the establishment of several career development centres at the major universities in Cairo and other governorates to serve 70 per cent of university graduates, the statement added.
