BORG El-ARAB, Alexanderia, September 19, 2018 - Smouha came from behind to snatch a late 1-1 draw against Zamalek to earn a dramatic point at Borg El-Arab in the seventh round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The White Knights entered the game looking for the three points to top the league table, while Smouha wanted to return to winning ways following a three-game winless run.

The first chance of the game came in the 22nd minute, when Kasongo’s long-range shot went just wide of Abou-Gabal’s post.

Kasongo nearly opened the scoring for Zamalek when he received a perfect cross from Hamdy El-Nagguez and his shot beat Smouha keeper Abou-Gabal, but it was cleared off the line by Osama Ibrahim.

In the 49th minute, Mohamed Abou-Gabal pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Ibrahim Hassan and Youssef Obama.

Obama managed to put Zamalek 1-0 up in the 69th minute after going through on goal. The forward received a magnificent through ball from Mahmoud Kahraba and put the ball past Abou-Gabal.

The Smouha keeper continued his impressive display and denied Kasongo from doubling his side’s lead.

Smouha severely punished Zamalek with a late goal through substitute Hossam Hassan, who converted Sherif Reda’s cross, making it 1-1.

There was still time for more late action, as the Alexandrian side were rewarded a penalty after Hamdy Nagguez fouled Reda in the box, but Yasser Ibrahim hit it over the bar.

After the game, Zamalek are 2nd in the Egyptian Premier League with 14 points from seven games, one spot behind Pyramids, while Smouha fifth with 10 points.

Zamalek’s next game will be against Arab Contractors on Sunday, September 23, while Smouha will face Ismaily a day earlier.

CAIRO, September 14, 2018 - Mahmoud Alaa scored a hattrick as Zamalek defeated Tala’a El-Geish 3-0 in the sixth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.

The game started off in an electrifying fashion, as Youssif ‘Obama’ dribbled skillfully past the defence, but his weak shot was parried away by El-Geish’s goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam in the fourth minute.

The Whites managed to break the deadlock in the 32nd minute, as Mahmoud Alaa headed an in-swinging corner kick into the back of the net, making it 1-0 into halftime.

12 minutes into the second half, Alaa doubled his tally. The defender once again headed an accurately crossed corner kick from the far post past Bassam.

Eight minutes before the fulltime whistle, Alaa completed his hattrick, as his right footed deflected shot nestled into the top corner, after receiving a loose ball inside the box.

This is the defender’s fifth goal of the season, making him the league’s top scorer along with Arab Contractors’ striker Ahmed Ali.

Following the game, Zamalek top the league table with 13 points and are set to face Smouha on the 18th of September.

Meanwhile, El-Geish occupy the 15th league spot with five points and will face Ismaily on the same day.

CAIRO, September 12, 2018 - Zamalek manager Christian Gross has named his 21-man squad that will take on Tala’a El-Gaish in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The Whites are currently third in the league with 10 points behind Al Ahly and Pyramids, while El-Gaish sit 12th with five points, only one point away from the relegation zone.

The squad saw the exclusion of Mostafa Fathi, Abdallah Gomaa, Ahmed Madbouli, Dunga, and Tunisia international Hamdi Nagguez.

On the other hand, Ayman Hefny has returned to the squad for the first time since the Petrojet clash, with Mohamed Abdelghany, Bahaa Magdy, Mohamed Antar also making the cut.

The game will take place on Thrusday, September 13 at Petrosport Stadium.

CAIRO, September 2, 2018 - Kabongo Kassongo scored again as Zamalek defeated Enppi 4-1 in the fifth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek entered the game aiming to collect the full three points, after their surprise loss against Nogoom FC.

The Whites maintained position during the first 30 minutes of the game, but failed to create any real chances on Enppi’s goal.

In the 32nd minute of the game, the White Knights came close to scoring, as Mohamed Ibrahim found Ferjani Sassi in space, but the Tunisian’s shot went beside the right post.

Just two minutes later, Hazem Emam won a penalty kick for his side after getting tackled by Abdelrahman Amer inside the box.

Zamalek’s defender Mahmoud Alaa sent the ball home from the spot, making it 1-0 for the Whites.

Less than five minutes later, Zamalek extended their lead to 2-0, as ENPPI’s Salah Soliman finished Ibrahim Hassan’s accurate ground cross into the back of his own net.

12 minutes after the restart, Ibrahim found Youssef ‘Obama’ in space, whose powerful shot went past Enppi’s goalkeeper, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Less than a minute later, Hassan continued to impress as he calmly converted Sassi’s brilliant through pass into the back of the net.

In the 64th minute, Kabongo Kassongo added the fourth goal for his side, as he dribbled skillfully past Enppi’s goalkeeper and finished the ball into the empty net.

In the dying moments of the game, Mahmoud ‘Shika’ cut inside from the right flank and unleashed a stunning curved shot that left Mahmoud ‘Genesh’ helpless.

Following the win, Zamaek tops the league table with ten points and are set to face El-Geish on the 13th of September.

Meanwhile, ENPPI occupy the ninth league spot with six poins and will face Ismaily on the same day.

CAIRO, August 9, 2018 - Zamalek Coach Christian Gross has named the Whites’ squad which will take on Kuwaiti outfit Qadsia on Saturday, August 11 in the Arab Club Champions Cup. The second leg scheduled to take place on the 28th of September.

The White Castle’s squad list has seen the inclusion of Tunisia international Ferjani Sassi for the first time since joining the club this summer.

But the duo Ayman Hefny and Mostafa Fathi are set to miss the game due to muscular problems.

CAIRO, August 3, 2018 (News Wires) - Zamalek boss Christian Gross has announced his 24-man squad that will face Ittihad of Alexandria in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Both teams drew their opening games against Petrojet and Arab Contractors respectively, and will hope to claim their first win of the season.

The Whites’ squad has witnessed the return of Tarek Hamed and Mahmoud Alaa, who missed the Petrojet game, and also saw the inclusion of new signing Omar El-Said.

Tunisia international Ferjani Sassi and defender Mohamed Abdel-Salam will still wait for their debuts as they were not named in the squad.

The game will take place on Saturday at Petrosport Stadium.
