CAIRO, September 14, 2018 - Mahmoud Alaa scored a hattrick as Zamalek defeated Tala’a El-Geish 3-0 in the sixth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
The game started off in an electrifying fashion, as Youssif ‘Obama’ dribbled skillfully past the defence, but his weak shot was parried away by El-Geish’s goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam in the fourth minute.
The Whites managed to break the deadlock in the 32nd minute, as Mahmoud Alaa headed an in-swinging corner kick into the back of the net, making it 1-0 into halftime.
12 minutes into the second half, Alaa doubled his tally. The defender once again headed an accurately crossed corner kick from the far post past Bassam.
Eight minutes before the fulltime whistle, Alaa completed his hattrick, as his right footed deflected shot nestled into the top corner, after receiving a loose ball inside the box.
This is the defender’s fifth goal of the season, making him the league’s top scorer along with Arab Contractors’ striker Ahmed Ali.
Following the game, Zamalek top the league table with 13 points and are set to face Smouha on the 18th of September.
Meanwhile, El-Geish occupy the 15th league spot with five points and will face Ismaily on the same day.
