CAIRO, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued on Thursday a decree extending the tenure of Mohab Mamish as the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) for one additional year as of August 12, 2018.

The decree also extends the tenure of Mamish as the Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) for one year.

The decree was published in the Official Gazette.

CAIRO, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el-Moselhi said Thursday that the strategic reserve of wheat is sufficient for four months.

During a press conference on Thursday, Moselhi added that the strategic reserves of sugar and edible oil are enough for 3.7 months.

Moselhi noted that for the first time the country's reserves of basic commodities are enough for more than three months.

CAIRO, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued a decree approving a US grant for supporting comprehensive water solutions and water security as well as improving water sanitation services across Egypt.

Under the deal, signed on September 26, 2017, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will extend to Egypt a grant worth about LE50.874 million to improve its fresh water and sanitation systems.

The president also allocated two pieces of state-owned land in the Upper Egypt governorates of Menya and Beni Suef to the New Urban Communities Authority to build two new housing complexes: New Fashn and New Malawi.

The president also approved re-allocating 9,494 feddans of state-owned land in South Sinai's Ras Sedr to the Armed Forces.

KUWAIT CITY, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - Kuwaiti security bodies arrested the third criminal accused of stabbing to death an Egyptian citizen in Kuwait, a well-placed source at the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry said.

In statements to MENA on Thursday, the source said the confessions made by an Asian national and his wife who are involved in the case facilitated uncovering the hideout of their accomplice.

The three stabbed the Egyptian expat at his house in Kuwait’s Bnied al Gar, killing him on the spot.

The 30-year old Mahmoud Kamel died from a fatal stab to the heart.

On Wednesday, Immigration Minister Nabila Makram thanked the Kuwaiti security bodies for swiftly arresting the killers of the Egyptian national.

She added that the Egyptian embassy is following up investigations.

She made the remarks upon the return of the body of the killed Egyptian national home.

CAIRO, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - Defence and Military Production Minister Mohamed Zaki ordered Thursday the Armed Forces Logistics Authority to distribute about one million food rations at half price to the most needy across the nation on the occasion of Eid el Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) which falls next week.

This comes upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to ease the burden on citizens in remote and poor areas.

The Armed Forces also extended sincere greetings to the Egyptian people and the Muslim world on the holy occasion.

MECCA, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - The Health Ministry said that the death of an 84-year-old Egyptian pilgrim upped the number of Egyptian pilgrims who died in Saudi Arabia to 17.

The deceased woman, identified as Galila Ismail el Safti, from Alexandria governorate, died in a road accident, Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said in a statement.

She was moved to King Abdulaziz Hospital, he added.
