Egypt was drawn in Group A, alongside Australia, South Africa, Brazil and Montenegro.
CAIRO, June 22, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt has opened two markets for the country’s agricultural exports of citrus and grapes in Uruguay, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ezz el Din Abu Steit announced.
The process of exporting Egyptian citrus and grapes to Uruguay is set to start as of the new harvest season, Abu Steit told reporters.
The step comes after negotiations and talks that were held between officials at Egypt’s agricultural quarantine department and their Uruguayan counterparts about the measures recently taken by Cairo to maintain the quality of its agricultural exports, the minister noted.
CAIRO, June 22, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's State Security Prosecution Attorney General Khaled Diaa ordered remanding Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, a leader of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, in custody for 15 days pending investigations anew.
The State Security Department intercepted communications between the banned international Muslim Brotherhood organization and Abul Fotouh.
His arrest came following a number of successful security operations against extremist groups and militant Brotherhood cadres.
The contacts were aimed at plotting unrest and sabotage against vital state institutions to create an atmosphere that would help those elements return to the political scene.
CAIRO, June 22, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt's Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki approved the formation of a committee to settle the military service status of Marsa Matrouh residents, whose age surpassed 30.
The committee will consider their military status on a case-by-case basis during the period from June 23 till 28.
Afterwards, it will issue them their final military status certificates.
The formation of the committee comes as part of ongoing efforts by the defense ministry to provide all facilities to and ease the burden on the residents of border and remote areas.
All Egyptian males aged 18 to 30 must perform mandatory military service except for certain cases.
CAIRO, June 22, 2018 (MENA) - Head of the Egyptian Supreme Council for Media Regulation Makram Mohamed Ahmed will participate in a meeting of the information ministers of the Arab coalition in support of legitimacy in Yemen, to be held Saturday in Jeddah.
The meeting is set to discuss a raft of key issues, topped by how the media should tackle humanitarian conditions in Yemen, the Council said in a statement Friday.
The agenda of the meeting will also include means of exposing the crimes committed by Houthi militants against the Yemeni people and their affect on navigation in the Red Sea.
CAIRO, June 22, 2018 (MENA) – Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that Egypt desired to break the deadlock in the Syrian political track and get out of the current quagmire.
Shoukry’s remarks came during his reception to a delegation of the Syrian negotiation committee, including its president and his two deputies, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said late Thursday.
Their talks touched on the latest developments in the Syrian file, coordinating efforts for completing the formation of the constitution committee to start its duties.
The foreign minister reiterated his country’s stance supporting the political solution in Syria, aimed at preserving the state’s unity and sovereignty and stop the bloodletting there.
For their part, the committee members hailed the Egyptian role seeking an end to the Syrian crisis at the political and humanitarian levels.
