CAIRO, May 31, 2018 (MENA) - Environment Minister Khaled Fahmi headed for Rome to take part in the Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on Biodiversity Mainstreaming across Agricultural Sectors hosted by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in cooperation with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

In a statement on Thursday, the Environment Ministry said the event is considered one of the activities aiming at generalising biological diversity in the developmental sectors.

The meeting is attended by a number of ministers, experts and stakeholders in the sectors of agriculture, environment, forests and fisheries to outline methods for preserving biological diversity in support of the sustainable development goals, the statement read.

The event will tackle efforts of generalising biological diversity in the field of agriculture, exchanging expertise and information in this regard besides probing the future FAO programme pertaining to this issue, it added.

Meanwhile, the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh will host in November the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity - COP 14, which is considered the second biggest international conference in the environment field.
