TANTA, Egypt, June 9, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt will reap soon the fruits of the difficult economic decisions taken in the past period, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal stressed on Saturday.

Abdel Aal made the remarks while chairing a meeting of a committee looking into a master's thesis presented by a lawmaker on the state's responsibility towards violence at stadiums.

"Egypt's economic conditions will stabilize soon," he promised, stressing that the Egyptian people should have patience so as to reap the fruits of the difficult economic decisions that had been taken.

The master's thesis was discussed at Tanta University in the presence of a host of academics.

CAIRO, June 5, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives Speaker Dr Ali Abdel Aal Tuesday asserted that the increase in the House's budget for fiscal 2018/2019 is meant to be allocated to the staffers and not the members as reported by some mass media outlets.

Addressing a session, he said the Parliament's budget should increase in the new fiscal because 70% of it is allocated to the House's employees and they have a right to a promotion and a salary raise just like other civil servants elsewhere in the country.

He denied any increase for members of parliament, urging media people to verify any news before publishing their stories in order to avoid any misinformation.

CAIRO, June 5, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives on Tuesday gave its final approval to a draft law to amend some provisions of law no. 58 of 1978 to modify requirements needed to for villages' mayors (Umdas) and Sheikhs candidacy.

According to the amendments, candidates who are willing to run for mayor positions will be required to obtain only the basic education certificates, instead of the secondary ones.

The minimum age of eligibility to run for the positions has become 30, instead of 35.

The Interior Minister is authorized to exclude governorates or border areas in consideration of its specific nature.

CAIRO, June 5, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives on Tuesday gave its final okay on the State budget bill and its attachments for the fiscal year 2018/2019.

The parliament approved during discussions the special chapters pertaining to revenues and expenditures.

The bill covers social allowance, grants, benefits, the purchase of non-financial assets, local and foreign securities acquisition, payment of local and foreign loan installments, taxes and loans and other revenues including those of selling financial and non-financial assets.

CAIRO, June 5, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's House of Representatives has given its final approval to a bill submitted by the government on combating information technology crimes during a session held here on Tuesday under Speaker Dr Ali Abdel Aal.

The bill includes 45 articles that cover blocking websites, protection of privacy, e-crimes, creation of fake accounts and protection of personal data.

The prime minister will issue the law's executive statutes within three months.

CAIRO, June 4, 2018 (MENA) - The House of Representatives approved on Monday a bill to raise pensions by 15 percent as of July with a minimum increase of EGP 150.

Under the bill, the minimum pension for the insured or eligible pension in accordance with the Law No. 79, 1975 shall be increased from LE 500 to LE 750, including all the increases and subsidies.
