CAIRO, August 18, 2018 - Minister of Investment and International Co-operation Sahar Nasr and Minister of State for Environmental Affairs Yasmin Fouad met on Saturday members of a World Bank (WB) delegation in Cairo to discuss co-operation, especially in the field of environment.
Nasr underscored the importance of WB support for environmental projects in Egypt.
She referred to co-operation between her ministry and the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs in this regard.
Discussions during the meeting especially focused on the technical support grants that the WB could offer to the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs.
Those attending the meeting also reviewed the preliminary results of a study on the effects means of sustainable transport have on the air quality.
CAIRO, August 18, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Interior Ministry is coordinating with bodies concerned to provide the citizens with goods in low prices, as Eidul Adha is approaching.
The move comes in line with the interior minister's directives to alleviate the burdens on citizens, and control markets as part of the Interior Ministry’s social and community duties.
It provides the citizen with different food goods, especially meat at 30 percent discount compared to the market.
CAIRO, August 18, 2018 (MENA) - Marwa Tamer, a 7-year-old girl, has undergone a successful surgery in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to treat the child at the state's expense.
After a precise surgery performed on the girl at Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo by a highly qualified medical team, the child's medical condition is stable and she is currently receiving the necessary medical care following the operation.
In a statement, Ministry of Health said that the minister contacted the mother of the child who was transported by an ambulance from her house in El Bagour township, Monufia governorate to Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo.
The mother of the child appealed to the president to intervene to treat her disabled daughter who needed an urgent surgery to fix her neck vertebrae, which was damaged due to pressure on spinal cord.
CAIRO, August 18, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Health Ministry has performed surgeries for 7,606 patients, out of 12,127 on waiting lists, as part of a national initiative.
The initiative kicked off on July 18 upon directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
It covers nine specializations including Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, tumors and kidney and liver transplant.
CAIRO, August 18, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Prime Minster Mustafa Madbouli received Saturday a report from Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on the role of university hospitals in cutting short the waiting list of the patients who need surgeries.
The report stated that the university hospitals had performed 3714 surgeries in different specialties from July 6 to August 15, 2018.
Working hours were extended for all the medics at Ain Shams, Cairo, Mansoura, Zagazig, and Assuit university hospitals to include weekends in order to treat additional cases, it elaborated.
Madbouli said the country made the health and education services a top priority in its working plan, highlighting the coordination between the government and other bodies concerned in these sectors to put an end to the waiting lists of patients who need surgeries according to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives.
CAIRO, August 18, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has mourned the death of Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan.
In a tweet, Spokesman for the ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid wrote: "Egypt MFA joins the family of Kofi Annan and the whole African and Int. community in mourning the loss of former UN Sec General,"
"A towering figure who left an indelible legacy in support of peace and development. An icon and a source of pride for all Africans and peace-lovers," he added.
