NEW YORK, Sept 18, 2018 (MENA) - Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese on Tuesday said that his current pastoral visit to the US is aimed at following up services extended by Coptic Orthodox churches in the US.
He added that arrangements for the visit started last year, said Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Bishop Paul Halim in press statements.
BOSTON, Sept 16 , 2018(MENA) - Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese Sunday inaugurated the Sunday School building at St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in Boston, one of the oldest Coptic churches in Massachusetts.
A large celebration was organised by the church on the occasion attended by the Pope and his accompanying delegation and a number of church bishops.
The Pontiff is currently on a several-week tour of the United States.
NEW YORK, Sept 15, 2018 (MENA) - Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese has asserted that Egypt has a great history dating back to thousands of years, saying that several strong indicators show that conditions have been significantly improved.
The pontiff made the remarks on Saturday at a ceremony held here to mark the inauguration of St. Helena and St. Anasimone Church of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York and New England, in Queens.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Pope Tawadros said that several services projects are currently under implementation and efforts are underway to improve the road network, pointing out that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is exerting strenuous efforts to achieve development and ensure unity among the Egyptian people.
Separately, the Pope visited the Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church in Connecticut, where he was received by a large number of church goers and representatives for Christian denominations.
Pope Tawadros is currently in the US on a pastoral visit that is set to run for weeks.
The pontiff is scheduled to visit a number of Coptic Orthodox Dioceses and churches.
He is accompanied by Bishop Domadious of Sixth of October and Osim parish, Anba Marcous of Hadayek el Qobba and Waili parish, the pope's secretaries Father Angelious Ishak and Father Amonious Adel and Bishop David of New York.
CAIRO, Sept 15, 2018 (MENA) - Spokesman for the Egyptian House of Representatives Salah Hasaballah hailed patriotic remarks made by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark during his current visit to the United States.
In a statement, Hasaballah termed the Pope as a prestigious patriotic figure who represents firm stances of the Egyptian people worldwide.
He focused on the Pope's remarks regarding achievements made in Egypt over the past five years and the political leadership's keenness on solving problems facing the country.
The pontiff started a visit for several weeks to the US as he is expected to meet a number of Coptic priests and monks.
This is the pope’s second visit to the US since assuming the pope’s post. His first visit to the US was in 2015. He then visited the southern part of the US and attended celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the consecration of the south US diocese.

CAIRO, Aug 29, 2018(MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday confirmed that Egypt is proud of its Coptic sons and their stories of success inside and outside the country.
At a meeting with Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese and participants of the World Youth Forum of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the president added that national unity has been well-established in Egypt throughout history, said Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Rady in press statements.
The president expressed his appreciation and respect for the Egyptian church and lauded Pope Tawadros as a patriotic man who played a remarkable national role over the past few years, said the spokesman.
Egypt looks at its sons from a nationalistic viewpoint which holds high the values of citizenship and tolerance along with full partnership in the homeland, the spokesman quoted President Sisi as having said.
The young people expressed their pleasure for visiting their homeland and meeting with the president, said the spokesman.
The young Copts said that the situation in Egypt is quite different from the image depicted by media outlets abroad. The security situation in Egypt is stable, they confirmed.
