CAIRO, Sept 14, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal on Friday called for raising awareness among citizens to counter rumors, denounce violence and promote peace amid the country's fierce war against terrorism.
Their call came during a meeting with a number of mosque imams in Cairo, as part of the Awafq Ministry's plan to renew the religious discourse and handle all issues related to the Islamic Dawa (call), administrative work and community service.
During the meeting, Gomaa commended close cooperation with the Antiquities Ministry to develop Cairo mosques for their historical and archaeological status.
For his part, the Cairo governor praised scholars and mosque imams for spreading the right and moderate teachings of Islam, lauding efforts exerted by the Awqaf Ministry to combat extremism.
CAIRO, Sept 9, 2018 (MENA) - Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal will attend on Monday the Awqaf Ministry's celebration of the New Hijri year at Al-Hussein Mosque in Cairo on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa is scheduled to deliver a speech at the ceremony on this occasion.
The ministry noted that it will organize similar ceremonies nationwide to mark the occasion.
CAIRO, August 17, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa has said that the coming international conference of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs will focus on the principles of loyalty to the homeland.
In statements to MENA, he added that the conference, that will be held in January next year, will be organized under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The conference will also focus on the importance of pushing up production and achieving scientific progress along with building the Egyptian personality, he indicated.
The main topic of the conference will be building the national personality, he pointed out, noting that this comes in accordance with directives by president Sisi to the government for building the Egyptian personality, he added.
The participants will take up many topics including the scientific, cultural and economic aspects of building the national personality and efforts exerted by the Egyptian Armed Forces on this score as the army is an example to be followed for building the personality, he pointed out.
Many Awqaf and Islamic affairs ministers and intellectuals along with academicians and experts from different parts of the world will be invited to the event, he added.
CAIRO, August 11, 2018 (MENA) – Islam calls for the good humanitarian values as a divine religion that respects the humanity regardless racial and religious differences, Egyptian Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said.
The Islamic religion gives a top priority to the justice and equality among the human being, stressing that no one is better than others except by piety, Gomaa said.
Awqaf Ministry decided to dedicate next Friday sermons for the humanitarian issues included in the Farewell Sermon, which is believed to be the Prophet Muhammad's Final Sermon which he delivered during Hajj rituals.
CAIRO, August 3, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa called on scholars, writers and intellectuals to exert the utmost efforts in order to expose the misleading concepts of terrorist groups and their attempts to spread rumors online.
Combating the terrorist groups’ ideologies and uncovering their reality are “a question of religion, homeland and nation,” the minister said in a statement Friday.
The Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist groups constitute a heavy burden on religion as they distort its image and great teachings, Gomaa noted.
These groups also constitute a burden on their countries since “they are working day and night to devastate them,” he added.
CAIRO, July 17, 2018 (MENA) - Mufti of the Republic Shawqi Allam discussed during a meeting Tuesday with Yemeni Minister of Awqaf Ahmed Atiya religious cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the mufti shed light on the depth of Egyptian-Yemeni relations at all levels, pointing out that Dar Al Ifta is fully ready to offer all forms of religious support to Yemen with training Yemeni clerics at Dar Al Ifta.
For his part, the Yemeni minister praised Dar Al Ifta's role in fighting anomalous fatwas (religious edicts) and confronting extremism.
He expressed his country's readiness to benefit from Dar Al Ifta's expertise and the training of Yemeni clerics.
