Suez Canal Axis project to help bolster African-Chinese cooperation
CAIRO, April 17, 2018 (MENA) - Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mamish said that the holding of a forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Cairo this year underlined the depth of Egyptian-Chinese ties, especially in the trade and economic domains.
Addressing the FOCAC opening session, he said "we are looking forward to boosting Sino-African cooperation via the six harbours of the economic zone."
He added that the Suez Canal Axis project helps in bolstering Chinese-African co-operation.
He noted that China pumped huge investments into the Red Sea area of el Ain el Sokhna.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Song Aiguo said Egypt is a pivotal state, not only in the Middle East, but also in Africa, therefore, it has been selected to be the venue of the forum this year.
He also referred to Egypt's distinguished geographical location, and highlighted the strong and deep-rooted Egyptian-Chinese ties.
The forum is one of the most important international events that focus on promoting Chinese-African co-operation.
