RAMALLAH, August 17, 2018 (MENA) – The Israeli forces blocked Thursday night the entrances to Nablus, after an Israeli female settler was killed in a hit-and-run incident.

The woman, 42, who was hit by a car in the Havat Gilad area on Thursday, was pronounced dead, Ynetnews reported.

The Palestinian driver, 60, who ran over her has turned himself into the police.

RAMALLAH, August 16, 2018 (MENA) - Thirteen Palestinians, including a woman, were arrested on Thursday by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank.

In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the Palestinian citizens were arrested in Al Quds, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho and Nablus cities.

GAZA, August 16, 2018 (News Wires) - Schools teaching half a million Palestinian refugees will reopen across the Middle East as planned later this month, a UN agency said on Thursday, despite funding cuts by its biggest donor the United States.

The opening of the schools on August 29 had been in doubt after the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said it lacked funds to pay the 22,000 teachers in its educational network in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, and Jordan and Syria.

UNRWA said students will return to its 711 schools on time though it still did not have enough money to fund them for a full school year.

UN officials said the agency needed more than $200 million from other contributors to cover its deficit after the US aid cuts.

US President Donald Trump said in January he would scale back aid to the Palestinians unless they cooperated with his plans to revive peacemaking with Israel. Those peace efforts stalled in 2014.

At a specially convened session of the UNRWA Advisory Commission in Amman, Commissioner-General Pierre Krahenbuhl said that since the beginning of the year the agency had received $238 million in additional contributions after a funding drive but was not "out of the woods".

"We currently only have funding to run the agency's services until the end of September," Krahenbuhl said in a statement. "We need a further $217 million to ensure that our schools not only open but can be run until the end of the year."

UNRWA was founded in 1949 after the first Arab-Israel war, which led to 700,000 Palestinians being forced to leave their homes or flee. It helps around 5 million Palestinian refugees, a figure that includes descendants of those displaced by the fighting.

In January, Trump tweeted "we pay the Palestinians HUNDRED OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year and get no appreciation or respect. They don't even want to negotiate a long overdue peace treaty with Israel." The US State Department has said the agency needed to make unspecified reforms.

RAMALLAH, August 13, 20l8 (MENA) - Israeli forces decided to demolish the house of the family of martyr Mohamed Tareq Dar-Yousef in Kuber town, northwest of Ramallah.

Palestinian sources said the army stormed into the town and hanged a demolition notice on the house's wall and handed over the demolition order to the family's next-door neighbour.

Occupation troops stormed into the house in preparation for razing it to the ground soon.

Dar-Yousef's family has left the town some time ago.

RAMALLAH, Aug 12 , 2018 (MENA) - The Palestinian government called again on the international community to swiftly intervene and press Israel to lift the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Sunday, Palestinian government spokesman Yousef al Mahmoud said the enclave's warning that daily life was about to collapse necessitates the international community's intervention.

The spokesman said the Israeli occupation and schism among Palestinian factions are the main reasons behind the complicated Palestinian situation, underlining the importance of national unity to overcome the current crisis.

GAZA CITY, Aug 12, 2018 (MENA) - Israeli occupation naval forces detained on Sunday five Palestinian fishermen off the coast of northern Gaza Strip.

In press statements, Palestinian Fishermen Union Chief Nezar Ayash said all detained fishermen belong to one family.

Israeli naval boats routinely open fire on Palestinian fishermen sailing within the six-nautical-miles zone and farmlands along the border, flagrantly violating the ceasefire deal.
